BlackBird Fly

Never a wounded woman.....

Statistics show that when urban youth have no outlets or exposure to environments outside of their elements teen violence, gangs, teen pregnancy, and the education drop out rates rise.

Artina Sharpton  & NYOIL  have combined resource and efforts to host Black Bird Fly.

Black Bird Fly was born to facilitate the cultural, social and personal growth of young women through the collective intervention of concerned Women and Men of Distinction by introducing young women to the myriad lifestyles available to them.

Black Bird Fly is a conference and ball inspired by the Beatles song of the same name. The lyrics “Blackbird singing in the dead of Night, Take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise…” speak volumes to what we feel the young girls and women of our communities are experiencing.  They are waiting for a moment to arise from the conditions that have stifled their growth into Ladies of exception and myriad possibility.

The aim of the conference is for women of all classes and backgrounds to share their lives, the pitfalls and the triumphs with young women between the ages of 10-21. The conference portion of the event will give the attendees an opportunity to take part in multiple workshops seminars and forums on March 27th, 2010.

Mach 28, 2010 the Black Bird Fly ball is designed for young ladies to discover their more elegant side. Young ladies must have a partner to participate in this ball.

Press Release

The Hip Hop community unites nationally to help Haiti

NYOIL hosts NYC leg of HIP HOP 4 HAITI — A National Day of Observance

New York, NY, January 22, 2010:  NYOIL will be hosting the New York City Hip Hop 4 Haiti event at The National Black Theatre in Harlem NY on January 30th, 2010 from 5:00 – 11:00 pm EST. The National Black Theater is located at 2031-33 Fifth Avenue Cross Street: 125th Street and 126 Street and will be open to the public for this event. The suggested donation is $20.00, but not mandatory. Dr. Ron Daniels (President of I.B.W.) has endorsed this event on behalf of the Haiti Relief Fund. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit Haiti survivors.

Hip Hop 4 Haiti is being supported by a diverse coalition of Hip Hop Artists, ranging from Spoken Word, eMCee’s, Dancers, Singers, and Educators, community activists and more. Queen YoNasda, NYOIL, along with Brothers Care Inc, AllHipHop.com, HoodlifeMovement.com, DJ Green Arrow, Shock Ra Entertainment, New Image Alliance, the Institute of the Black World, and P.E.M.G are the driving forces behind the efforts in New York City.

Our goal is to raise spirits and funds of at least $10,000. We are urging the entire community to come together and open their hearts and wallets for those who need our help. And of course this is Hip Hop so we’re going in with both feet! Beats, Rhymes, B-Boys, DJ’s and plenty of Knowledge for Self!!” – NYOIL

HH4H is as a National Fundraising event throughout the Hip Hop in over 32 major cities.  The youth and Hip Hop community will raise money, relief and awareness for the loss and suffering in Haiti. This event is targeted at galvanizing the Hip Hop community to action as a full body, minus the divisions that have plagued it over recent years. “Hip Hop is a family; we don’t always see eye to eye and we are always arguing, like most families; but don’t mistake that familiarity as breeding contempt. Understand that we bicker, fuss and fight because we are family, and at our essence we have immense love for one another and what we are all a part of. Now Haiti is about to see what that love that power can do when focused and applied toward a singular goal!” said NYOIL, who is also the Ambassador to Hip Hop for the I.B.W. (Institute of the Black World).

JOIN DAVID ARCHULETA BY SUPPORTING THE LISA LOPES FOUNDATION

DAVID ARCHULETA AND ANGELS FOR A CAUSE TO RAISE FUNDS
FOR THE LISA LOPES FOUNDATION MEDICAL CENTER IN HONDURAS

-Over a million families are in desperate need of health care in Honduras-

Atlanta, GA – (October 27, 2009) David Archuleta and Angels For A Cause (AFAC) partner with the Lisa Lopes Foundation (LLF) to help raise $10,000 to launch the new medical center in Honduras.

The Lisa Lopes Foundation medical center will serve thousands of families and children living in impoverished areas of Honduras, with health conditions among the worst in the Western Hemisphere. Honduras is the second poorest country in Central America.

An estimated 1.5 million Hondurans were without access to health care in 2008.  With the highest Aids rate in Central America, the quality and access to health care are directly tied to income levels. Health care for the urban and rural poor is extremely limited.

The Lisa Lopes Foundation medical center will provide free health services, establish an ongoing rotation of dental and medical brigades that will provide on-site services, ensure that the center is prepared with the basics in dental and medical supplies and provide a comfortable working environment for Medical and Dental Brigades or anyone servicing the area and staying at the center.

All donations are tax deductible. Donate today by visiting: http://www.facebook.com/l/2d3a9;lisalopesfoundation.org/afac.php.

ABOUT LISA “LEFT EYE” LOPES FOUNDATION (LLF)
Headquartered in Stone Mountain, Georgia, the Lisa Lopes Foundation (LLF) was developed in 2003. LLF was created by Lisa’s mother, Wanda Lopes-Colemon, her brother Ronald Lopes and family friend Anashay Murphy. The mission of LLF is to provide access to Basic Health, Education, Self-Awareness and Recreational Programs to children living in low-income communities within the United States and Central America.  LLF was inspired by Lisa’s dream of building a children’s home on land she purchased in Honduras. Shortly after revealing her plans to her family, Lisa passed away in an auto accident in Honduras. Four years later LLF opened Lisa’s Home of Love, a 10,000 sq. ft., residential facility.
